Shima no Napoleon Brown Sugar Shochu (900ml, 25%)
Shima no Napoleon is an authentic kokutō (brown sugar) shōchū from Amami Oshima Nishikawa Shuzō, distilled on the subtropical Amami Islands of Kagoshima Prefecture. The Amami archipelago is the only region in Japan legally permitted to produce kokutō shōchū, blending pure brown sugar with rice koji.
Distilled under reduced pressure to preserve the delicate aroma of the island’s raw ingredients, Shima no Napoleon offers a clean and mellow expression of island terroir. Soft notes of caramelised sugar, light citrus peel, and gentle mineral tones evoke the island’s clear air and volcanic soil. Smooth, slightly sweet, and perfectly balanced, it embodies the refinement of Amami’s distilling heritage.
Serving Suggestions:
• Neat or on the rocks to highlight its natural sweetness and clarity.
• With room‑temperature water (“mizuwari”) for a traditional island serve.
• Excellent paired with grilled seafood or light tropical dishes.
Main Ingredient: Brown sugar & rice koji
Distillation: Vacuum (reduced pressure)
