1・5 ONE FIVE is a collaborative barley shochu produced by Ikinokura Shuzo and Goto Retto Shuzo, distillers on the remote Iki and Goto Islands in Nagasaki Prefecture. The name reflects the partnership: “1” for Iki and “5” for Goto. The sky-blue bottle evokes the clear seas surrounding the islands, while the shochu itself embodies centuries of craftsmanship and island heritage.
Blended in a 6:4 ratio (60% Ikinokura, 40% Goto Retto), this 30% ABV shochu combines vacuum-distilled barley shochu from Ikinokura with the fruity, floral notes of Goto Tsubaki yeast, sourced from camellia flowers on the islands. The result is a fresh, light, modern-style shochu with aromas of red apple, peach, creamy banana, and fresh flowers, underpinned by luxurious umami. Aged in kametsubo earthenware pots and matured for long-term storage, it has a smooth, rounded texture that reflects the islands’ character.
